Access Control Security Systems Bring Overall Security Up a Notch

One of the latest phrases to enter the vocabulary of security experts is “access control security systems”. So what does this mean and what can it do for you. In short, access control security systems are systems that contain functions aimed at protecting specific areas in a home or business.

Protecting Specific Areas

In further layman’s terms, its a system that an individual has to have his or her own secure means in order to gain access to a room or area. So what are the benefits? In fact, they are many due directly that the technology that has been developed specifically for these types of systems.

Complete Control

Not only do they control access but they can also record who entered an area or room and when they left. They are also capable of recording other information as well. For instance, combined with a video tape and a scale they can record what an employee left a controlled area with and the difference in their weight compared to when they entered.

Keypad Card and Biometrics

In their basic form they are operated by using a keypad. This is by far the least expensive and the next step up from there are systems that use a magnetic “swipe card”. Up from there is the biometric technology that has been recently developed that checks a persons fingerprint or eyes.

Wireless Burglar Alarms-Its Crime Time! Be Cautioned!

Crime is a major concern in today’s world, and no one’s home is immune from break-ins and burglary. More and more homes are being protected by home security systems, and the home security industry is booming. If you’re thinking replacing or installing a home security system, consider the advantages of a wireless burglar alarm.

Due to increasing demand, the security industry is producing a variety of new and innovative home security systems. The wireless burglar alarm is an outstanding new product in high demand.

Wireless burglar alarms and home security systems don’t need extensive cables or wiring. They use radio waves for communications from sensor to control panel. They make effective use of motion and sound detectors, combined with window and door contacts, to alert you and your security service when an emergency occurs. The central keypad controls and directs the system, and most systems allow the homeowner to arm and disarm their system with a remote, portable control.

Wireless burglar alarms and home security systems consist of these major components:

Central Control Panel. The wireless burglar alarm’s brain is the control panel. Usually located in a cabinet, in the cellar or attic, the control panels receives wireless signals from sensors that monitor vulnerable spots in the home. When a sensor detects intrusion, fire, or gas leaks, it sends an alert to the control panel. The control panel sounds the alarm and, in most cases, notifies the security service or local police, fire department, or emergency service.

Keypad. The keypad is used to activate, deactivate, and test the wireless burglar alarm and home security system. Usually located near entry doors or the master bedroom, users enter a specific code to operate the system. Keypads are easier to use than earlier systems, and they usually include a LED screen or panel that makes them easier to see at night. Most keypads also have single-touch alarm “panic” buttons for fire or medical emergencies.

Magnetic Contacts. These contacts are used to monitor windows and doors. When the magnet signal is interrupted by the door or window being opened, the switch trips the system alarm.

Sensors. Home security systems use infrared sensors that can detect motion or body heat that enters the infrared beam. Also called Passive Infrared Sensors (or PIRs), these sensors are used when no one is home, and they’re located in areas where a door or window magnet contact is not practical or where a larger area needs to be covered. They also alert the control panel when they detect motion or body heat, and an alarm sounds.

Cameras. Security cameras are added protection in wireless burglar alarm and home security systems. They allow the homeowner to monitor vulnerable areas with a video monitor and to record activity when hooked up to a VCR. They make the wireless burglar alarm system more versatile, as the cameras can be placed in nurseries to keep a careful eye on infants or on the exterior of the home to monitor large yards. They make it possible to identify visitors and to record an image of burglars for later law enforcement efforts. It is possible to use infrared cameras that can monitor and record in the dark as well.

Monitoring Service. While a wireless burglar alarm system can be used separately, this added service provides for constant monitoring and communication about emergencies from another location through a security service company. The control panel is configured to send the signal to the security company using radio waves, and the security service tracks signals and monitors for alarms. When an alarm sounds, the security service contacts local law enforcement or emergency services to get a prompt and appropriate response. Services are affordable, and greatly enhance the effective protection from wireless burglar alarms.

It’s time to move up in the world of home security technology. Wireless burglar alarms are easy to install, easy to use, and effective protection for your family, your home, and your possessions.

Randy’s Burglar Alarm Stops a Thief!

Many people don’t appreciate a home security system until it actually goes off. That’s the story I got from my next door neighbor at four in the morning a week ago this past Friday. Torn from a deep sleep by the klaxon-like baying of Randy’s burglar alarm – Randy’s my neighbor – I wandered over to his house about 30 minutes after the police had gone. While the police hadn’t made an arrest, Randy’s home security system did the job, scaring away the burglar before he had entered the house.

If what happened to Randy isn’t enough to convince you that home security systems can pay for themselves many times over, consider the fact that insurance companies will substantially discount insurance premiums for a private home outfitted with a security system or burglar alarm. My own insurance company discounts my home owner’s policy by twenty percent because I have a security system installed and monitored by a nationally certified company. The savings make a big difference in defraying the cost of my alarm system.

Home security systems come in many different flavors and are able to detect events ranging from forced entry to smoke, fire and even high levels of carbon monoxide. A plain-vanilla setup consists of a keypad, motion detectors and a link to a monitoring center that contacts the police or fire department if the alarm is triggered. Costs for a basic system usually amount to about one hundred dollars for installation and then a monthly monitoring fee that normally ranges between thirty and forty dollars.

Finding the right company to install your home security system needn’t be a tedious job. You’ll usually have a number of friends and relatives who already have security systems installed and they’ll be happy to make a personal recommendation. If you don’t know someone who already has a system, take time to visit the website of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFFA). They’ll be happy to supply information about home security systems and recommend companies in your area that install home security systems and provide monitoring services.

Depending on your location, your list of companies will probably include such nationally known names as ADT and Brink’s Home Security, along with many local companies. Try to narrow the list to three to five companies located in your area. Good selection criteria include membership in the NBFAA, as well as participation in the industry’s Installation Quality (IQ) Certification Program. The IQ program gives consumers a yardstick for identifying alarm companies that are active in quality and false alarm issues.

Once you’ve narrowed your list, call each company and arrange a meeting with a company representative in your home. Price isn’t necessarily the most important issue in selecting the company to install and monitor your security system. Here’s a quick checklist with questions to ask and things to do:

How many years has the company been in business? Longer is better!

Will it monitor your home security system’s operation twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty-two weeks a year? Make sure they’re working 24/7/365!

Does it have a backup power supply so it can monitor your home even when the power goes down? A good company will continue to operate, even when the lights go out.

Does the company have an in-house training program and are employees well-trained so they are able to correctly install, monitor and service your system should repairs be necessary? Make sure the answer to this question is yes!

Finally, have the representative survey your home and explain in detail your security needs and options. Don’t forget to get a written list of recommendations and a quote in writing for the cost of the security system and monitoring services.

Once you’ve met with the companies on your list, compare equipment, services and pricing. Then, make the call and have your system installed. And don’t forget to cut your premiums by telling your insurance company that you’ve installed an alarm system.

You’ll probably never need your home security system, but you’ll sleep better for having it, just like me and my neighbor Randy.

About Wireless Security Systems

With crime on the rise, home security systems are a must have.  With burglars becoming more and more common, you simply must protect your loved ones as well as your possessions.  There are several different types of security systems available for you to choose from.  For your home, there are wired and wireless security systems available.  Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, along with the differences in price as well.

The driving technology found with both wired and wireless security systems are quite different.  Wireless security systems don’t need to be wired through the house; they will instead send transfer messages to the control panel through radio signals.  When they were first introduced, wireless security systems were proved to be unreliable when compared to the wired systems.  As time went by and more and more people looked into them, wireless systems began to take form.

When compared to wired systems, wireless security systems are a lot easier and more convenient to install due to the fact of there being no wires.  Wireless systems can save you a lot of money, time, and effort due to there being no ripping of the floors or walls in your home.  Wireless systems on the other hand are more expensive than wired systems and you’ll need to replace their batteries on a periodic basis.  The primary advantage to wireless security systems is the fact that they are easy to relocate, meaning that you can easily shift them from one home to another.

Wireless security systems use the same components as other security systems such as the touchpad, control panel, cameras, detectors, and alarms.  Wireless systems rely on radio frequencies that are transmitted by the door contacts, windows, and motion activated sensors.  The touch pads that are located at the entrances to the home will provide activation and deactivation of the system.  In the event of the power failing, a backup system will take over the wireless system and continue to provide security for your home.

To use a wireless system, all you need to do is input the code through the control panel.  Normally, this is done prior to entering and leaving your home.  Once the code is input into the control panel, the control panel will send remote signals to the rest of the system that will activate the alarms.  Depending on the system you have, an alarm will go off either by motion detection or a window or door being opened.

If you look around you can find several different wireless security systems, many of which you can install yourself.  Before you buy a system though, you should always consult a professional who can survey your home and suggest the equipment you need.  Even though it may cost a bit more money, it will be more than worth it down the road.

Home Security Made Easy In Modern Society

<!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } –>

With the rise in crime over the past few decades, the number of security companies has increased in response to demand. Initially the solutions they offered for homeowners were not realistic choices for most people. However, new developments in technology and decrease in the costs of home alarm systems have made it easy for everyone to obtain protection against burglaries.

The first home alarms to come out on the market were elaborate and required extensive wiring. This fact meant that houses either had to be planned with alarms in mind or that the installation process was time-consuming and quite costly. Many people just could not afford the high costs and therefore were unable to prevent burglaries from affecting them. The segment of the population that could afford the cost was very small. Other people did not install systems because they were too concerned about the negative side effects from the installation. They were right in this concern, as wired systems can do damage, especially on older homes.

Early home security systems were very basic compared to what is available today. They served the purpose of identifying intruders and sounding the alarm, but they did little else. The motion detectors utilized simple technology, which made false alarms common. If you had a family pet you had to consider where it was all of the time, because the alarm might accidentally be set off by it. When alarms go off unnecessary, it is like in the tale of the boy who cried wolf. In other words, people stop paying attention to alarms when they are inaccurate, which can have devastating results when the alarm is actually responding to a dangerous situation and no one responds.

Today it has never been so simple to attain excellent protection. Prices of the systems are now well within the reach of households everywhere. Installation costs are also much lower, which is related to the change in the design of systems that technology has permitted. Instead of solely relying on wiring, the modern home alarm system utilizes wireless elements as well. This facilitates installation and also puts to rest any worries about how the alarm might damage the house because very few holes are needed.

Another aspect that has been revolutionized is that it is now possible to go beyond just an alarm. Homeowners can opt for integrated home security systems that protect against natural disasters in addition to criminal activity. One keypad can control the entire system, allowing you to see the perimeter of your protected area and easily activate the alarm. The system can, however, do much more than this.

One of the first elements that homeowners add to a system is a smoke detector. This is a very smart choice for many reasons. Most people have smoke detectors but they do not regularly check the battery, and the security system will constantly update this information so that you know when a new battery is needed. In addition, the security company monitors the system. Therefore, if smoke is ever detected in your home, the company will contact the fire department. This ensures the fastest response possible, even if you are on vacation thousands of miles away. The benefits of a system for your home now far outweigh any costs, and this protection provides you will invaluable peace of mind.

A modern home security system is affordable, easy to install, and the best way to protect you from harm. Contact your local home security companies to learn more about the systems available in your area.

Comparing Other Security Brands To ADT Home Security Systems

What comes to mind when you think about ADT home security systems? If anyone has ever told you about the company, I am sure they were impressed.

ADT makes a name for itself by providing a great deal. It’s not hard to figure out why they’re America’s leading home security provider. ADT offers systems to meet the budget and needs of every homeowner.

Are You Wondering What Makes ADT Different Than Other Companies?

The main difference that makes ADT home security systems stand out from all of the rest is that they come with 24 hour monitoring. Even though the majority of home security systems do provide you with protection, often there is a long delay in getting the necessary assistance. Although every home security system should provide protection whatever their brand, ADT strives to get you the quickest emergency response once the alert is engaged. In addition, their systems also provide wireless sensors that prevent intruders from entering the actual home by the means of a detection device.

Wireless sensors that actually detect intruders before they enter the home is one more outstanding feature of their systems. Again, this reduces the risk of things being taken illegally from your home. Your life may depend on the amount of time it takes for help to arrive. If a burglar breaks into your house then help could be called right away to save your property. In the worst-case scenario, immediate help can help to protect you and your family from being hurt by the intruder. Every intruder is not just intending to commit burglary, and frightening as that sounds, you can at least be reassured that with round-the-clock security monitors, help can arrive in moments. What you must have is an alarm that will produce the quickest protection, and ADT takes pride in providing round-the-clock service and fast emergency response.

ADT home security systems offer a free home security review, which makes them stand out. A lot of home security providers do not take the time to individualize the needs of your family. Therefore the system you wind up with might be of premium quality yet it still might not suit your unique needs.

Our ADT Home Security Review will give you peace of mind in knowing that you will be protected to the fullest. To ensure we show you the best system for your needs and situation, we’re going to ask you some questions about where you live and your family.

For the best home security system or to upgrade what you’ve got now, look no further than ADT. Sometimes people that might have trouble memorizing their alarm code would find the Safepass option easier to use. This lets you pass a tag over the front of the alarm to either disengage or engage it instantaneously. You dont need to recall any codes and the tag can be adjusted to function at certain times.

ADT home security systems are absolutely a cut above all the rest, overall. ADT is the only security company that can give you the dependability and quick response that you need. You should look at the ADT products offered to see how this would help you today.

Betty Cambell writes about ADT home security products to keep you and your home safe. Read her reviews if you are looking for ADT alarm system or ADT professional and emergency service to find the best deals!
